Dog Fouling

HOW TO SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE DOG FOULING

This is a topic that has exercised the minds of your Parish Council over many years and as a result, pleas have been published in the Avon Grapevine for all Dog Owners to pick up after their animals.

Additional Dog Bins have been installed around the village for this purpose, so much so that Wolston has been called the “Dog bin capital of the borough”

However despite these efforts, residents who are responsible dog owners believe that the Parish Council are anti dog owners – which is not the case – as we only want our village to be free of this plague. We have also highlighted the fact that Borough Dog Wardens do patrol the village when requested but this cannot be 24/7 and there is also a scheme for voluntary dog wardens to operate. Something must be done.

SO HERE IS A NEW IDEA.

With so many good and responsible dog owners in our community why not suggest that they teach the less responsible dog owners the error of their ways by speaking to them whenever they spot a failure to pick up and point them in the direction of the nearest dog bin. Perhaps even offer them one of the little black bags to use.

Maybe we can then praise all owners and rid the village of this scourge and maybe we can then walk around and not have to look where we put our feet and our children can go to the playing fields and use the equipment in safety.

FOOD FOR TGHOUGHT.
