Skateboard Park

One day Rhys Thomas and his friend Joe Kemp thought to themselves that the existing Skate Park was not really very good for their use. They attended a Parish Council meeting and asked if it could be improved for them. The Parish Council said it would be possible but asked the lads if they knew what they wanted, how much it was likely to cost and whether there were any grants available.
Rhys and Joe did some research on ramps and how much they cost and came across a firm called Evolution who sorted them out and helped with designs for new top-notch equipment, and also gave them some prices.
They came back to the Parish Council with this information and a County Councillor who was at the meeting said that she thought she knew where they might be able to get a grant. They applied for a Grant from the Youth Opportunity Fund who agreed to pay nearly £27,000, which was enough for all the equipment they wanted.
Evolution installed the new equipment in the middle of March 2010 and the verdict was "it’s great".
The equipment that had been in place in the skate park included a flat bank, a little box and a small quarter pipe that was about 5 years old and was too small for bikes. Now users have a volcano and a mini ramp with a quarter pipe on the other side and it is perfect for bikes and skateboards.
There is a basketball hoop and a football goal and a bench to sit on.
Since then the services of a professional artist have been used to help decorate the new equipment.
