Parish Council Responsibilities

The Parish Council is responsible for various things which affect every household in the village.

There is the provision of Allotments; two Children's Play Areas and a Skate Park; Dog Bins; Footpath Lighting.

The Parish Council employs a member of staff who undertakes litter-picking in the village to supplement the street cleansing work provided by the Borough Council.

The Parish Council employs two part time groundsmen to undertake a schedule of grass cutting and strimming of large areas of the village, excluding the grassed areas of Abbotts Walk which is under the control of the Leicester Housing Association. 

The Parish Council employs a caretaker for the Skate Park and Children's Play Area. 

The public open space and play areas on the new Bluemel Park are also outside the control of the Parish Council as these are maintained by a private management company.

The Parish Council is the custodial trustee of the Village Hall, custodial trustee of the Allotments site, holds the lease for the Leisure and Community Centre site (formerly Wolston High School) from Warwickshire County Council and is registered as the owner of Dyers Lane Recreation Ground.

In addition the Parish Council is a statutory consultee on planning applications affecting the Parish.
