AFRICAN NIGHT at the Village Hall
Sandy Wright and friends created a very special atmosphere in the Village Hall to show her gratitude for the support that has been given to her Mamaka Well Appeal.
As well as DVD footage and photographs of the well, there was also an opportunity to sample some African food.

1165 ducks took to the water.
Sunday, 18th April, saw a lot of activity on Main Street as preparations were made for one of the most popular annual community events - the Duck Race - organised by the 1st Wolston Scouts.
Although the brook is the main focus for the afternoon with the various preliminary races leading to a final, there were also a number of stalls.
These provided everything from hotdogs and burgers; tea and cakes - courtesy of the WI - games organised by the Brownies to keep people occupied between heats; bric-a-brac; plants; and this year, as an added bonus, the Young Farmers with 'hook a duck' and a game of chance - guessing how many balloons there were in the cab of a tractor.
As the start time for the races approached, villagers took up position on the grassed verges, and on the bridges over the Brook, while other queued to purchase the remaining tickets for the Duck Race.
The "temporary" gate across the brook dropped and the first batch of plastic ducks were carried along on the sparkling clear water towards the finish line.
Youngsters sitting on the banks checked to see which ducks were in the lead and would be in the first ten to finish - these would then go into the final race.
The centre of the village buzzed with activity and there was a really happy atmosphere. It was great to see some supporters from Brandon, our nighbouring village, enjoying the afternoon.
Congratulations to 1st Wolston Scouts and the other organisations that made the event such a great success.
